One bar in Ibiza worked out in the 1980s that the sunset needed a soundtrack, and the genre that came out of it has been running ever since. Beach chillout is unusual among dance-adjacent music in having no destination — it is not building to a drop, it is holding a mood for as long as you leave it on.

Why It Works

This is the least demanding station on the shelf. Sunset lounge and tropical deep house sit at a tempo that suits an evening, a long drive, or a working afternoon that does not need silence. It is also the station people put on for other people — it flatters a room without anyone having to notice it.

Why Mixtuby

Twelve live beach and chillout streams, one per channel, including several running Café del Mar sunset sets and one carrying live webcams from Ibiza itself. All verified as genuinely broadcasting. One tap plays, no account.

History

Café del Mar opened in San Antonio in 1980, positioned to face the sunset, and its resident DJ José Padilla built sets from ambient, film scores and whatever else held the hour. The compilation albums that followed from 1994 onwards gave the sound a name and exported it, and 'balearic' became a genre label for music defined less by tempo than by the time of day it belonged to.

Legacy & Influence

The 24/7 stream is a better fit for that sound than an album ever was, because the original point was continuity — music that ran as long as the light did. Channels now broadcast sunset sets around the clock across every time zone at once, and a webcam stream from the island itself has an audience watching an evening that is not happening where they are.

How to Listen

1

This station rewards speakers over headphones — it is room music.

2

Start it before sunset rather than after. The sound was designed around the hour.

3

The webcam stream is worth opening full screen once.

4

Deep house tempo keeps an afternoon moving; the pure lounge stations do not.

5

It is the safest station to put on for guests. Nobody dislikes it.

Beach & Ibiza Radio — FAQ

Is Café del Mar actually on here?

Several of the twelve streams run Café del Mar and balearic sunset sets, and one carries live webcams from Ibiza. They are independent channels broadcasting in that style, not an official station feed.

What is the difference between this and the ambient station?

Ambient is for sleeping and concentrating — rain, drones, nothing with a pulse. Beach chillout has a beat, usually deep house tempo, and is meant for an evening rather than a night.

Are these live or just long videos?

Live. Every stream was verified as broadcasting against YouTube's own live status before it went on the shelf, and the player shows a red LIVE badge.

Do I need an account?

No. Pick a station, press play. Free, no sign-up.

What is a good station to start with?

Any of the sunset lounge ones. They are the closest to the original Café del Mar idea and the easiest to leave running for hours.
