Why It Works

Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory are records for a night out, a football match or a long drive. The later albums, from Heathen Chemistry on, are calmer and work well in the background at home.

Why Mixtuby

Mixtuby plays every Oasis studio album in order, so Morning Glory still ends on Champagne Supernova. On YouTube you get one video and then autoplay goes somewhere else. No account, no subscription.

Biography

Oasis were formed in Manchester in 1991. Liam Gallagher sang, and his older brother Noel joined as guitarist and main songwriter. Alan McGee of Creation Records signed them after seeing them in Glasgow in 1993.

The brothers argued in public for the whole life of the band. Noel left in August 2009 after a fight backstage in Paris, and the band split. They reunited for a world tour in 2025.

History

Definitely Maybe, released in August 1994, was the fastest-selling debut album in British history at the time, with Supersonic, Live Forever and Cigarettes & Alcohol. (What's the Story) Morning Glory? followed in October 1995 with Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger and Champagne Supernova, and became one of the best-selling albums in the UK ever.

In August 1996 they played two nights at Knebworth to about 250,000 people.

Be Here Now in 1997 sold huge numbers in its first week. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (2000) and Heathen Chemistry (2002), with Stop Crying Your Heart Out and Little by Little, came with new line-ups. Don't Believe the Truth in 2005 and Dig Out Your Soul in 2008 were their last albums.

Legacy & Influence

Oasis made guitar music the biggest thing in British pop again, and their big songs are still sung in pubs and stadiums thirty years later. Wonderwall is one of the most played songs of all time on streaming.
