Biography
Olivia Isabel Rodrigo was born on February 20, 2003, in Murrieta, California, and grew up in nearby Temecula. She started as an actor: in 2016 she joined the Disney Channel series Bizaardvark, playing a guitarist, and in 2019 she took the lead role of Nini in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+.
She signed with Geffen Records in 2020. Her first single, drivers license, came out on January 8, 2021. She wrote it with producer Dan Nigro, who has produced all three of her albums, and it debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
Rodrigo has won three Grammy Awards, all at the 2022 ceremony: Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album for SOUR and Best Pop Solo Performance for drivers license.
History
SOUR came out on May 21, 2021. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and stayed there for five weeks. drivers license and good 4 u both debuted at number one on the Hot 100, a first for a debut album, and deja vu, traitor and brutal were the other singles.
The record moves from bedroom pop and acoustic ballads to pop-punk guitars, often within a couple of songs.
