Airport Departure Planner
Flight Buddy is a free airport departure planner in your browser. Pick where you fly from and to, the date and the take-off time, and it tells you when to leave home — drive time plus traffic, parking and the time you need at the airport. It sets an alarm, builds a packing list for that trip, shows the weather when you land, how to get into town, and the plug, money and documents for the country. No account needed, in English or Romanian.
How It Works
-
1
Pick your airports
Type where you are flying to and from — a city, a country or a town near the airport is enough.
-
2
Add the date and take-off time
The take-off time is on your booking e-mail. Do not have it yet? Tick “I don’t know the take-off time yet” and fill it in later.
-
3
Choose your bags
Cabin bag only, or a checked bag too. With cabin bag only you skip the bag-drop queue, so you can leave 30 minutes later.
-
4
Set your home once
Save Home in Drive and Flight Buddy times the drive to the airport, with 20% added for traffic and 15 minutes for parking and the walk to the terminal.
-
5
Set the alarm and pack
Get a notification 10 minutes before you have to leave, or add it to your calendar. Then tick off the packing list, built for that country and that weather.
How Early to Be at the Airport
| Flight | At the airport | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Inside Schengen, e.g. Bucharest → Rome | 2 h | Before take-off. On top: the drive + 20% for traffic, and 15 min to park and walk in. |
| Leaving Schengen, e.g. London or Dubai | 2 h 30 | Passport control on the way out. The same drive and parking time on top. |
| Cabin bag only | −30 min | No bag-drop queue; you go straight to security. |
| Busy summer morning, or a first flight | +2 h max | Tap More time, in steps. Your call, not ours. |
Before You Fly
Two hours before a short-haul flight and three before a long-haul one is the usual airline advice — Finnair, for example, says exactly that, and adds that queues, the airport and the time of day change it. Flight Buddy starts from two hours inside Schengen and two and a half for everything else, takes 30 minutes off when you only have a cabin bag, and lets you add up to two hours more. It is a plan, not a promise: on a summer Saturday, or at an airport you do not know, give yourself the extra time.
Two rules catch people out at security. Power banks travel in the cabin only, never in checked luggage, and several airlines — Lufthansa Group and Emirates among them — no longer let you use or charge them in flight; check your airline. Liquids are still limited to 100 ml containers in a clear one-litre bag at most European airports. Some airports with new CT scanners, such as Munich and parts of Frankfurt, now allow up to two litres, but the rule changes from airport to airport and flights to the US keep the old limit.
The country facts — documents, plug, money, tipping, tap water — are kept by Mixtuby and dated on screen. Entry rules change, so always check your government’s travel advice before you go.

Plan My Trip — FreeAirport Departure Planner — FAQ
How early should I leave for the airport?
Add up the drive with some traffic, the time to park and walk to the terminal, and two hours at the airport for a short-haul flight — longer outside Schengen or in summer. Flight Buddy does that sum from your home and gives you one time to leave.
Is 2 hours before a flight enough?
For a flight inside Schengen with a cabin bag, usually yes. With a checked bag, passport control, or a busy airport, plan on two and a half to three hours.
Can I take a power bank on a plane?
Yes, in your cabin bag only — never in checked luggage. Many airlines now ban using or charging it during the flight, so charge your phone before you board.
Do I need a plug adapter for my trip?
Pick your destination and Flight Buddy shows the plug type there and whether it is the same as yours. If it is not, the adapter is added to your packing list.
Will the alarm work on my iPhone?
The calendar alarm works on every phone. The notification works on iPhone once Mixtuby is added to your Home Screen; Flight Buddy shows you how.
Is it free, and is my trip saved anywhere?
It is free, with no account. Your trip is saved in this browser. Your home address stays on your phone; only the route service sees it, to time the drive.
