Karaoke puts the words of the song that is playing on your screen, line by line, in time with the music. Pick a karaoke playlist (Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, the 80s, the 90s, the 2000s, Latin, Country or Ballads), press GO, and sing. Make the text as big as the room needs, choose its colour, and if the words come a little early or late on a song, nudge them into time; Mixtuby remembers the nudge for that song on your device. The lyrics come from LRCLIB, a free community lyrics database, so many songs have them and some don't. Free, no account, nothing to install.

Why Singing Along Feels So Good

Singing together is one of the oldest ways people bond. Researchers led by Daniel Weinstein and Robin Dunbar at the University of Oxford found in 2016 that singing in a group raised people's pain tolerance, a common sign that the brain is releasing endorphins, and made them feel closer to each other, even in a large choir of strangers.

Language teachers like songs for a simpler reason: words set to a melody are easier to remember, and reading the lyrics while you hear them links the written and the spoken word.

You don't need to sing well for any of that. The lyrics on screen are there so you can join in.

Karaoke with Lyrics — FAQ

Where do the lyrics come from?

From LRCLIB, a free community lyrics database. Mixtuby fetches the timed lyrics of the song that is playing; for our own songs, we use our own lyrics.

Does every song have lyrics?

No. Many do, some don't, and the badge says N/A when a song has none. The karaoke playlists are songs we checked, so their lyrics are there and keep time.

The words are early or late. Can I fix that?

Yes. Nudge them up to ten seconds either way, half a second at a time. The nudge is remembered for that song on your device.

Does it score my singing or use the microphone?

No. Karaoke shows the lyrics; it never turns on the microphone and does not score.

Can I use it on a TV?

Open Mixtuby in a laptop's browser connected to the TV, make the text big and start Karaoke there.

Is it free?

Yes, with no account. Your text size and colour are remembered in this browser and sync with your Mixtuby settings if you are signed in.
